Rachel provided overnight postpartum doula services for me and my son. She was great with the baby and also extremely supportive and helpful in our conversations—gave very good guidance. I have high expectations and Rachel exceeded them. I have worked with a number of postpartum doulas and Rachel is on par with the best. —Mara
Rachel did an excellent job providing support and massage for the patient. She had a very calming sense and remained a great source of comfort for the patient who was experiencing an unmedicated birth. One of the best doulas I’ve seen! —Jean-Marie, RN
We were so lucky to have you as our doula for Jane’s birth. You were your usual intuitive self—warm, calm, intelligent… We are thrilled and grateful and wishing you all the best! —Carmen
I had a great experience with Rachel. She was very responsive throughout the planning process. She was punctual for all meetings. She was professional when it came to interactions, payments, contract, etc. Finally and most importantly, she was a great calming resource for me and my family. I trusted her completely with watching my child which was a big deal for me given it was my first child and a few day old newborn.
We had high expectations and she exceeded them.
Rachel made the first four weeks with our new baby less scary and much more enjoyable. Her expertise with newborns and calm, comforting demeanor were indispensable and taught us to relax and enjoy our baby. She was more helpful than we could have expected! She cared for our baby as if she were her own, which was incredibly reassuring and allowed us to feel confident that our baby was well cared for while we slept.
Rachel was very supportive and stayed calm throughout the birth. I don’t know what we would have done without her! I wanted someone supportive and nonjudgmental, and she was just that.
Rachel was an invaluable part of our first child’s birth. Not having any family living close by, my husband and I were looking for help and guidance during labor and leading into the birth, as well as someone who would support me to achieve a natural, intervention-free birth, even though we were going to a hospital. Rachel certainly helped with all these aspects, and more. She was very professional from the outset, but also warm, accessible, down-to-earth, practical and very sensitive to our needs. Her approach involved including my husband and listening to his expectations for the labor, as much as mine. We really enjoyed our meeting with Rachel before baby arrived and she remained attentive and helpful in the days leading in, answering all my questions, sharing resources, and checking in regularly.
When labor began and started to intensify, Rachel joined us at home and spent several hours with us as it progressed. Her encouragement was gentle but specific and she suggested several techniques to make things more comfortable for me, as well as reassuring me through each stage. I loved this part of my labour with the three of us at home together in a gentle rhythm. When something unexpected happened, we all managed to find the humor in the situation and Rachel helped us to keep the atmosphere peaceful and light. At the hospital, Rachel helped me to stay focused on my goals for the birth with her calm demeanor and quiet guidance. My husband was also grateful for her suggestions during this period, helping him to understand the best way to support me.
Our baby boy arrived happy, healthy and alert, following a very natural birth process. I believe Rachel’s presence was integral in making this happen. She reduced our anxieties about the unknown and truly allowed us as a couple to embrace the joy and amazement that is childbirth. I would definitely recommend Rachel as a doula – her support and warmth is something I’ll never forget.
It was so great to have Rachel with us for the birth of our first child. Not only was she very helpful and supportive on the day of the birth, she made herself available with any pregnancy related questions I had before and after and was a great source for information. I felt safe and ready to go into labor with her and my husband by my side. I would highly recommend her!
Rachel Goldstein is an amazing doula! I am so grateful that I had her as my doula when I gave birth. Rachel was highly recommended to me by a friend and once I met her I knew she was the one for me! I could tell right away that Rachel loves being a doula and is dedicated to helping mothers achieve the birth they want. Rachel is warm, caring, thoughtful, and also down-to-earth and easy going.
Leading up to the birth, Rachel was much more than a doula—she was a confidante, an invaluable resource, and friend to me and my husband. Rachel is very knowledgeable and resourceful, and I felt comfortable seeking her advice about anything and everything related to pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. She always made herself available for me and my husband.
Of course childbirth can be unpredictable, but I really believe that Rachel is the reason why I was able to have the natural hospital childbirth I had planned. As a first-time mom, I didn’t deliver until 11 days postdate and during that time I grew worried and impatient. Rachel was there for me, cheering me up and reassuring me that I was not going to stay pregnant forever! When labor arrived and I started to feel contractions, her calm demeanor helped me to keep my cool. And once the contractions became more intense, Rachel arrived at our apartment and walked me through coping techniques and helped me and my husband prepare for the hospital. When I had painful back labor, Rachel massaged my back and provided the encouragement I needed to help me get through it.
After the delivery of my son, Rachel patiently helped me with breastfeeding and continued to check in with me and my husband.
I wish all new parents to have their own “Rachel Goldstein.” And if looking for a doula, please give the real Rachel Goldstein a call!
Rachel was a wonderful resource leading up to the delivery for both my partner and me. During labor, she provided a calming presence both through physical and emotional support.
